World Cup game in Gung-Dong

So after one of my Korean classes, Nayeon and I went to go eat (normally I am starving....get out at about 9pm with nothing to eat before) at a restaurant in the nearby area of Gung-Dong, the old part of town I lived in for 6months last year. It was crazy! We were walking the streets, and it felt like the Rapture had come or like it was some ghost town....there wasnt a person there....and if you know this area, its ALWAYS busy with students from the university.

Why were they not there?! BECAUSE KOREA WAS PLAYING A WORLD CUP GAME! That is one thing that amazes me about Korean people, they are so united about their national sports teams. It is refreshing to see people genuinely root for their home team with a strong passion.

Here is the restaurant outside, with people watching the Korean game
Again, the restaurant next door.....

So anyways....we found a restaurant that had people eating and enjoying the game, and at the restaurant next to it, they were actually watching the game on a projector screen outside....here is the video of when we walked up...CRAAAAZY!
It was crazy....you could hear the whole town roaring....
This is the guy who scored the goal against Argentina....
The really sad thing is that after this goal...it all went downhill....Argentina ended up beating Korea 4-1....depressing.....literally....every person was quiet in the restaurant after the loss, it truly affects them the way that the team plays. I'm telling you it just isn't like that in America, unless you've put money down on a game! ^^
